Preparing for your PS (Photo Shooting)

Just sth to share again...

For PS,

1) Wear a Shirt to the bridal shop (no need nice one la..) why need shirt is becoz usually MUA help u do make up then u change.. since u already do the make up.. if u take out your T-shirt.. from the head.. u might just mess it up.. so advise is wear/ bring shirt there so u can just un-button without messing the Make up.

2) bring the correct bra u going to wear.. if u have more than one gowns better plan maybe one style of bra does not suit another..

3) wear a inner shorts.. hmmm those prevent u to "expose" one.. I guess your understand ba.. thin one better.. else wait so thick the gown not nice... Why need to wear one? coz u might do shots that need u to sit on the ground, flip the gowns, roll here roll there (abit funny but some PG like to do that), lay on the ground or so.. then u also need to travel here and there and u might need to hold up the gown.. SO to prevent "expose" and also sitting ard on grass/sand ground.. best to wear one inside lor

4) If you know u sweat easily.. maybe bring a fan there.. those small one lor... so u don't keep sweating and mess the make up...

5) bring water!! but don't keep drinking ya.. wait go toilet very mafan hahaha best is water bottle with straw! else lip stick gone...

6) of coz bring the barang of make up for touch up.. just incase u go few place then not in time to go back to the BS for change of Make up.. just incase u know hee hee.. oh also eye drop.. just incase your contact lens/ eyes too dry and become red.. that one photoshop edit also hard le..

7) hahaha ask your hubby to bring along their MP3, PSP ba... wait bored to death when u do make up for 2hrs!...

8) before the PS.. maybe u wanna see see how other pose nice nice for their PS... sometimes if your PG is those who like natural pose one they will not tell u what to do .. then u stand there they also can't take nice pic ... so see see how others do also not bad.. maybe u got certain pose u really want to have also can request.

9) If you have friend following you for the PS to help u / to help u take pic... better let the BS & PG know .. dun just go there without telling wait they not prepare car space/ arrangement.. and esp if ur friend going to take pic when u shooting.. wait PG not happy...avoid unhappiness ma..

10) If you have any flower/ bear bear etc that u wanna bring and take pic.. also tell the BS/ PG 1st.. so they can include/ arrange for u

11) OF COZ sleep early rest well before PS! else eyes red red the next day not nice nice la...

12) hee hee.. for guy make up/ hair style.. hahaha can just ask the MUA to help do abit for them la.. this is just sth extra...guy sweat and become oily easily too.. so also preare some kit for them also hee hee wait all the pic their face shine shine hahahaha Oh by the way.. for those guys who wear spec one.. maybe ask the BS do they need to prepare one frame without the lens... coz sometimes got reflection and the PG ask you take off but might not look nice without spec... so ask them / get prepare.

Choose photogapher

How to choose photogapher?? hmmm just share what I do when I look for photographer ya

1)how's the work... is it the style you like?journalistic style? or simply u like their work or not... the FEEL [see already must think oh that's how my AD pic should be like]
2)Budget ... get quotation from them and compare and shortlist a few of your own budget...
3)Call them up/meet them to talk more see how u get along with the photographer.. do meet up maybe few more before signing will be better...try neg to get more things...
4)After meet up and compare ... see which one is the best suitable and take it
[It is always good to compare rather than just ont the spot sign them... if they tell u the offer only today and not another day.. arm!!! to me is bullshit la... if today can give u.. tml can also give u.. unless got special reasonable reason la.. where got like that.. is one kind of hard sell]

Things that u can neg....
- Ask for more prints [eg 300print ask for 320-350prints]
- Ask for discount to print extra pic [market rate 4R should be able to do at 35cent/pc at least] Normal printing rate...
- Ask for free upgrade of album [since u up the print u need to have more page to keep the photo.. Usually for slot in is just additional sheet the supplier add in...ask them add more for you ba...]
- Ask for FOC for extra charges due to early morning/far location.. waive off... hahaha
- Rem to ask if need to provide them transportation or not.. [is for your planning]if there is charges then u can ask them to use your own transport instead if not wavie off....
- Include childhood montage simple style.. FOC... see their sample... if they doing power pt style.. then u also can do yourself la...hee hee but can always neg.. then get it FOC hahaha
- If you are asking for coffee book.. ask for discount...

hee hee maybe for new comers.... 1st time in touch with all these packages... will feel abit lost.. and dun know what to ask for when u go to the BS....I have been to few shops... and bargin with friends... let me share share some of the things that you might try to bargin for...

Based on 2007 rate----
For a 3K-3.5K package:
1 WG (MTM/OTR)
1 EG (MTM/OTR)
1 T-Dress (MTM/OTR) *usually out of the 3 gowns only 1 will be MTM.. and it might not be for you to keep...
1 ROM Dress
1 KUA
1 MTM Pants to keep for groom
1 Jacket for AD
1 Jacket for ROM
2 father Jackets
4 sister gown/brother jackect
1 ROM MUA with hairdo (Ask for FOC Ampoule and eye lashes)
2 AD MUA with hairdo (Ask for FOC Ampoule and eye lashes) --- morning and night.. maybe can ask for 1 more hairdo to match EG.

With either
1) Photo shoot (PS) ---- usually 300 pic will be taken for you to choose..... 5 gowns for both groom n bride (hee hee try ask them if can choose gowns aside from AD so u wear more different gowns) Indoor & outdoor --- select 20 to 25 pose (which is very little actually.... ask for more 35??)
1 coffee table album big one
1 desktop pic (try ask for 2)
1 big canvas pic.. WITH frame (do note that usually different frame will cost different.. unless standard one will be included)
1 DVD with selected pic
Try asking for FOC montage/FOC Ampoule, eye lashes for PS, extra pic discount.... Do try to ask for signing scroll make with your wedding pic... else normal guest book.

2) AD photo (Journalist style or normal style)
1 Unlimited pic in DVD 1 slow in pic with 300pc printed or
1 coffect table with 20 to 30pages (there is hot press/ normal print)
**** If you choosing AD photo... maybe u ask them to give you discount.. coz u din get as much as in the Studio PS... like desktop, MUA is not not in

Ok.. that's about all.... depends what you want ask for what u really want and push for it happy bargin .... hope my experience helps

[This is based on package that really happened! hee hee... but can't say where la wait the BS kill me.. just keep trying.. u will be suprise if u insist and neg with them.. spend abit more time to neg but u can save alot]

When to book?

Just for info.. to those who have not yet started looking for venue.. you can always do TENTATIVELY book... no deposit.. just that you are in Q.... so other ppl who want to sign with the hotel on your date... Hotel will contact u and see if u can confirm by then..if u dun.. they will released to the next couple who confirm to sign... Just a small tips for booking venue... coz maybe u have not yet make up your mind.. so just Q 1st... at least u got back up place.. else end up u got to take up venue that either u dun like/ expensive just to keep the wedding date....[I dun think u will give up the date then venue right]

For Bridal Shop I feel is ok.. coz is flexible.. can wait... just roughly count backwards... for example by end Sep/ Oct u got to have your album ready for your wedding.... and BS usually need about 2-3mths? to do it... therefore.. it will be about June? which is HOT!! hahahaha then maybe for Oct for example... best time to take pic will be ard Apr-May.. Hence latest to serach for BS can be early year .. hahahhaa hope these analysis help :P

Select Gowns

Just sth to share ya... do try to neg. with your BS (Bridal Shop)... if u taking PS (photo shoot) with them... try to get gowns different from AD la... else lugi le.... should push them!! u never know what u can get if u dun ask.... Just say other ppl also like that forum say one hahahhahaha [sometimes it works ok]

My own opinion...
For PS - Gown choosing & fitting:
Just 1-2wks before shooting.... unless u got custom make gowns then diff ya...or u have a gown in the shop that u LOVE so much that u MUST want to wear it for PS... then got to reserve it.. [esp if u planning to take pic during peak wedding time like end year]

For AD -Gown choosing:
most ppl do it together when they choose for PS gowns... so u can choose like 5-6 gowns u like.. depends how many gowns u have for PS & AD... so u can pick which to wear for PS And which to wear for AD... no duplicate... Then for AD fitting same lor.. 2-3wks before AD to make sure the measurement ok then fine already.... TAKE PIC!!! hahaha else 1 yr later when ur AD u already forget what u choose hahahhaa...

Do try ALL type of gowns... halter... low cut.. diff style ... to see which one suit u best.. take pic then after that can see the pic and choose... BS usually allow la.. coz u already sign their package ma.... You never know how u look like unless u try it... [some sales no patient then ask u get one then fix that one.. dun bother about them.. YOU are the one going to wear the gowns.. try until u satisfied!] hee hee :P oh beside type.. color also.. try la.. no need money ma hahahahha but dun bring too many sister/ friends there.. and make sure your hubby got some kind of entertainment if he going with u.. else very boring for them hahahaha :P

For those have custom make hor... it will be best if u have take some time to do some reserach before go... else u go there everything also "designer" say only.... dun like must say.... by the way do check with the designer how long they need to make the gowns.. so u know when to go talk to them when is the 1st fitting 2nd fitting etc... things that rush to produce is never good...

Wedding Bands

Just for those who haven't buy wedding rings yet... will suggest you to look ard whenever you are free ..

pt to note:
-Not all shops/ headquarter will have your ring size all the time...esp when your ring size is common one.. once ppl buy liao then no stock you have to wait....[according to most of the big brand in SG, the lead time making one for you will be same like custom make which can be few mths]
-There are many types of rings.. if u go diff shop u will find that how come some are lighter than the others.. and is cheap coz they are kinda hollow.. (erm.. personally dun like coz scare for long time wearing it will become out of shape... me and hubby not si wen type)... comfort fit is good (my opion again) is solid and really very comfortable.. however, due to solid means more gold used.. and also now the gold price is like crazy... an other bad pt is they usually are from some designer range... so more ex.. and also some how the pattern is more "AVERAGE" nothing suprising....
- custom make... actually custom make is not that ex... depends what u want..what's your design.. no harm asking.. you can even do tiffany etc branded design but at cheaper price.. not bad idea.. but do note... it won't be 100% same.. else they get sue ahhahah and also need about 2-3 months (can accelerate the time of making but rem rush work is never good) I have friend who get a tiffany design look alike ring at below 1K with 7 square diamons ya..
- ASK FOR DISCOUNT!!! dun think that place like Lee Hwa / Sookee.. can not bargin hor... ask them give you the best discount.. they can let u be member instantly and so you can enjoy more discount, also ask them give you free gives.. like ring pillow.. better ring box... VOUCHERS!!! I get so many voucher the other time... Free facial, massage, discount vouchers to buy wedding set..(can pass to your MIL so when they buy can have some discount) hahahaha .. so do ask hee hee :P hmm maybe can ask for free polish for the ring.. is not normal washing.. is polish type.. usually if u buy from big shop they give you One time free... ask for more lor hahaha no harm trying :P

MUA- Make Up Artist

What's usually cover in the package?

Sample of AD package should include:
1) AD Day - 1 x Makeup and 1 x Hairstyling
2) AD Night - 1 x Makeup and 1 x Hairstyling
3) Eyelashes - 1 for day and 1 for night
4) Hair Wig if required
5) Bridal Accessories provided for your use (might or might not have charges)
6) Service done at location of your choice - (Any transport charges ???)
7) Trial Makeup and Hairdo at my home studio (sometimes without hairdo and is not FOC... need to check)
8) Ampoule included - both day and night (Some need to pay)
9) No additional charges for early makeup and separate day makeup (some have special charges)
10) Touch up hairdo for groom on actual day evening prior to dinner

Optional items
a) Mum and sisters’ makeup and hairdo - $80/person inclusive of eye lashes (just example)
b) 2nd March in makeup and hairdo - $150 - inclusive of change of hairdo, accessories and touch up makeup (just example)

Pt to note:
-during the trial can do few hairstyle/make up to see....some very bad service will just do one for u and that's it.. (they dun wanna waste their cosmatic.. then why call it trial??hmmmm >.<) -If you have your gown or gown pic bring along to they can try to do one that suit your gown feel.
- Dun like must say hor.. if not trail for what?
- If really dun like after the trial can cancel without charges?
- usually there is charges for eye lashes, accessories, amouple... so try to bargin and include it FOC la... or discount
- You may also ask your MUA to set the dinner hairdo in such a way that you can actually change the hair accessories/ let it down partially to be another style yourselves for 2nd march in.. to save cost.. your jie mei can help u..
- it is always good to find a MUA that can communicate with you and not someone who insist their idea (sometimes coz they only know to do that style... and not willing to do others... hahahaha I met such ppl before....)
- If you are sensative skin rem to tell your MUA!... and bring along your own one if u got special request...
